How to Increase Conversions with Discounts and Promotions

If you aren’t able to generate conversions from your landing pages, there are some simple ways to turn things around. After evaluating your pages, if you can’t find a solution, then consider offering discounts and special promotions.

Consumers Expect Deals and Special Offers

We’re living in a world where consumers expect to receive deals and special offers everywhere that they go. One study found that about 50 percent of consumers will not make a purchase online if they don’t get a discount.
Immediately cutting off half of your market base isn’t an effective way to run a marketing plan. Luckily, adding special offers isn’t a difficult process.
There are many types of deals and promotions that you could use. The majority of these steps requires very little work and are easy to implement. This includes:
  • Free shipping
  • Discount codes
  • Free gifts with purchase
  • Pop-up exit offers
  • Exclusive content
Using these simple promotions, you can quickly see an uptick in conversion rates. If you can drop your bounce rate by 2% and increase your conversion rates by 2%, you’ll increase sales by 10%. Those are numbers that any entrepreneur can enjoy.

Free Shipping

Free shipping is one of the most common deals available on websites. You should decide whether you want to offer free shipping on everything or free shipping on orders over a set value. For example, you could offer free shipping when a customer spends more than $50.
Another option is to offer free shipping on all items. When you offer free shipping on everything, you can factor a portion of the shipping costs into the price of your products.
The only problem with free shipping is that it doesn’t apply to digital products. So, if you’re involved in digital sales, you’ll need to explore the other options.

Discount Codes

Discount codes are also effective for boosting sales. You can pass these codes out through social media or other marketing campaigns. As with free shipping, you don’t need to spend anything to include this deal.
Though, you’ll need a payment gateway that accepts discount codes. If your current gateway doesn’t support coupons or discount codes, you should look for a different gateway.

Free Gifts with Purchase

Free gifts could include just about anything. You could include tangible items or digital goods. Free gifts are easy to promote. You let your visitors know that if they act now, they can ensure they receive their free gifts before this special promotion ends.

Exclusive Content

Exclusive content applies to any media that you can give your customers that are not readily available elsewhere. Examples include eBooks, video content, member-only web pages, downloadable media, and any other digital goods.
There are numerous plug-ins available for providing download codes to digital content. This keeps people from sharing the download link with others.

Pop-Up Exit Offers

The final method is to include a pop-up exit offer. These simple pop-ups are used to try and get visitors that are about to leave your site. The pop-up is triggered when they attempt to close the tab in their web browser. This gives you one last chance to get their sale by offering a special offer or discount.
You can incorporate as many different discounts and promotions as you’d like. Though, you should probably keep it simple. Choose one or two discounts per marketing campaign. You don’t want to have to focus on too many different metrics and variables at the same time.

Why You Need To Get Into The Mind Of Your Audience

If you’re looking to drive sales through increased traffic to your website and grow your business, the key determinants of this are your site visitors, your audience. The only way to truly see your marketing efforts pay off is to identify the clients most likely to engage your business, and produce a conversion for your product or service. To get hold of this information, there are a lot of software and programs available to help you collect this valuable data.
Many entrepreneurs spend generously on marketing campaigns to yield good conversion rates for their businesses. Garnering information based on the habits of your potential clients is a solid way to determine if many of your strategies are viable. Using software that can both gather and analyze your data will save you much time, instead of having to do it manually, and will provide you with well needed direction for the implementation of future strategies.
Once you have the data in hand, it’s time to get to work. These programs will provide you with basic information such as gender, age, and location. While these are good metrics to have, they really don’t tell you much, so a more sophisticated program which gives more substantial information relating to their educational background, their social media and general internet habits, and even where they live, gives a more complete picture of your ideal client-the one who will convert for you.
Since audience reach is a big deal, it’s likely that your marketing budget may be quite sizeable. The results of your audience information search will help you to see if you need to pump money into other areas of marketing or if the methods you’re currently using will suffice, or can be utilized in more effective ways.
The money you’ve spent on marketing and advertising is an investment in your business, for which you’d like to see returns. This targeted information will help you to figure out when and where your most likely clients shop and browse, then, you can use directed advertising to appeal to them on those platforms. When you’re clear about your brand and what you want it to say to potential clients, leveraging this along with the information you were previously armed with, will help you reach them in a most effective way and will yield the conversion you seek for your business.
It’s more than likely that you conduct business online as well and have seen pop up ads and other forms of advertising which make you wonder how these sites are able to determine your interests. This is because many of these sites use the same strategies with you, that you’d like to use with your clients, to increase your own profitability. It must be very clear now how this approach makes a lot of sense.
There’s no miraculous way to generate greater website traffic which converts to sales. Using structured and proven approaches which generate meaningful information, like this one, really is a logical way of gauging how to position yourself from a marketing perspective, thus putting you in a prime position to engage with your target audience.

6 Ways to Increase Landing Page Conversion Rates

So, you’ve got your landing page all setup. But, you’re not getting the conversions you’d like. To put it simply, if your site is not converting, then you’re not going to get enough sales.
Fortunately, there are several steps that you can take right now to increase the effectiveness of your landing pages. If you want to boost sales, use the following 6 tips to increase conversion rates.
Remain Consistent with Your Details
When promoting a product or service, it’s common to include various statistics or to provide a list of features. Just make sure that your content is consistent.
For example, if you claim at the top of your page that your software has helped thousands of people and then you mentioned that you’ve helped hundreds, people may notice the inconsistency. They don’t care which number is correct. They’ll simply leave your site.
Keep Your Content Relevant to Your Ad
Along with remaining consistent, you need to keep your content relevant to your ad. Whatever you promise in your PPC ads should also be discussed on your landing page.
Users are clicking on your ads for a reason. Make sure that you match the content of your landing page copy to the content of your advertisements.
This step can actually help lower your cost-per-click for PPC ads. With Google AdWords, the cost-per-click is partially based on the overall quality and relevance of your landing page.
You Should Only Have One Call to Action
Your landing page only serves one purpose. You should never try to promote multiple products, services, or offers on a single landing page. Focus on a single action.
If you have multiple calls to action, they should be for the same action. Otherwise, you should create a new landing page for the other actions you visitors to complete.
Create a Sense of Urgency on Your Landing Page
Creating a sense of urgency is a great way to increase conversion rates. If a visitor feels that they may miss out on an opportunity if they don’t act now, they’re more likely to complete the desired action.
You can create urgency in your titles, headers, and your call to action. Reminding visitors to act now or that your offer is available for a limited time only will help create this sense of urgency.
Include Customer Testimonials on Your Landing Page
Include a section on your landing page where you provide customer testimonials. There’s a reason that you often see testimonials on landing pages. It’s because they work.
You can pull testimonials from social media comments or send out a survey to your existing customers. Send out a mass email to your subscriber list asking for their input.
Create the Ultimate Headline for Your Landing Page
The final tip is to create the perfect headline. This is what really grabs a reader’s attention. The headline is the first thing that a visitor reads. Your headline should be direct and easy to understand.
Write several different headlines and compare the differences. Which one speaks out to you? Create multiple headlines and choose the one that works best.
Increasing your conversion rates isn’t overly complicated. There are many different steps that you can take to boost sales.
Along with these suggestions, you should also consider using A/B split testing. This lets you compare different headlines, calls to action, and layouts. Compare different versions of the same landing page to see what works best.

6 Tips for Writing a Call to Action That Converts

Content is the foundation that you use for online marketing. While quality content is essential, a well-written blog post or email is less likely to convert if you have a poorly worded call to action.
A call to action needs to grab the reader’s attention. It spurs them to take action. If you’ve noticed that your online marketing content is under-performing, then you should take a look at your call to action.
If you need help creating an effective call to action, then use the following 6 tips. Learn how to write a call to action that converts.
Keep Your Call to Action Short
The very first step to writing an effective call to action is to keep it short. You should try to keep your call to action to less than 150 characters. Essentially, your call to action is an “act now” button or link. It should be short while still conveying a specific message.
For example, instead of simply stating “call today”, you may state “call us today and get a free quote”. Always check the total character count of your call to action. Don’t be afraid to trim a word or two.
Use Actionable Verbs
Use action words to get your reader to complete the desired action. Actionable verbs are words that can actually be performed by a person.
For example, when you include the word “Call” in your call to action, you’re encouraging your reader to call you. Other examples of actionable verbs and phrases include:
    • Click
    • Download
    • Try
    • Join
    • Start
    • Talk
    • Reply
    • Place your order
Create Urgency in Your Call to Action
In addition to actionable verbs, you should try to create a sense of urgency. You want to create an emotional trigger to give the sense that they need to “act now” in order to take advantage of your offer.
For example, you wouldn’t state “call us anytime to learn more”. Instead, you would state “call us today to learn more”. Here are a few examples of words that you can use to achieve this:
    • Now
    • Today
    • Limited time
    • Act now
    • Don’t delay
    • Last chance
Provide a Value in Your Call to Action
Another solution for boosting your conversion rates is to provide a value in your call to action. Including an offer or special promotion in your call to action lets your readers know that they’re getting a deal.
When writing your call to action, you may mention “call today for a free quote”, “call now to get a 50% discount”, “click here to receive your special gift”. This is a simple way to convert skeptical readers.
Make Sure Visitors Can Read Your Call to Action
Along with the actual words that you use, you need to make sure your call to action is readable. This means avoiding small fonts or intricate designs.
You can use graphics and interesting designs in your copy. But, your call to action needs to be highly visible and readable.
Keep Your Action Simple
Once a reader clicks on your call to action, they shouldn’t have any problem completing the next action. If the action is filling out a form, the form should be simple. If the action is giving you call, they shouldn’t have any problem finding the phone number.
Use these tips to start writing calls to action that actually convert. You should also consider using A/B split testing to test the effectiveness of your calls to action.

How to Use “Spammy” Website Tricks Efficiently

Let’s start right off the bat and make it very clear that we are not encouraging you to spam your customers or trap people with clickbait. Those tactics don’t work out well for anyone.
That being said, there are a few “spammy” website tricks that can help boost conversions. With some subtle but effective methods traditional employed by spam sites, you can actually help boost your website traffic, leads, and sales without annoying your customers.
Here’s how to make three traditional spammy tactics work for you and your customers.
Countdown timers
Countdown timers are a great way to push a sense of urgency. If you are running a big sale or have a special offer and put a countdown timer on it, people feel like they have to act or risk losing out. No one wants to lose out.
When a person goes to your website and sees that little timer ticking down, their primitive brain goes into panic mode. Seeing time tick away makes them worry that they are going to lose out on something or that they are going to miss out on something everyone else is getting.
This panic isn’t a conscious response and it can be used to your advantage. Consider putting a countdown timer at the top of your website page when you are having a sale or in the checkout cart to help avoid cart abandoners.
Countdown timers can also be good for autoplay webinars. Delivering a little “webinar starting in 5 minutes” with a countdown timer as a pop-up in the bottom corner of a screen can draw people in. They will see the pop-up and think “Oh! What luck! I came to this page just as they were starting a webinar. Now I have to watch it.”
While countdown timers are great, make sure that you use them sparingly and only where appropriate. If your timers become predictable and expected, they lose their effectiveness. Keep your customers guessing and your countdown timers will work towards your advantage.
Autopilot webinars
Have you ever poked around on a company’s website, landed on a conversion page, and see a little “webinar starting soon” banner with a countdown clock? While it would be nice to believe that you landed on that page at the exact right time for a webinar, this is not usually the case.
Webinars are a great way to drive conversions and get leads; however, they usually don’t convert well when you are doing them live. People may express interest in them and even register for them, but it is more than likely that they will forget about your webinar and never watch it. This is there autopilot webinars came into play.
Autopilot webinars are designed to drive people down the purchase funnel. Someone’s interest in your services or product is highest when they are navigating through your website and registering to get more information.
The idea with autopilot webinars is that you capture those people when their interest is the highest, at the registering for more information stage. Adding an autopilot webinar to the registration confirmation page can make people more likely to actually purchase your product.
Choose a webinar that works well for these first time, exploratory customers. A webinar about the importance of what you do and how it helps others be successful is a great example. Make sure to add a countdown timer here and change the webinar once a quarter. That way you can keep people guessing and capture more customers.
Utilize overlays
Overlays or “Welcome Mats” are a great way to get leads and push people to take action. Essentially, they are a total screen takeover that pops up when people get to a certain page on your website. Usually, they include some kind of messaging like “Want to become an expert? Sign up for our newsletter now!”
Overlays can be a little annoying to customers, but they work. They work really well, especially when it comes to lead generation.
But when it really comes down to it, putting all of these tactics together gets the best results. Create a pop-up overlay with a lead generation box, an autoplay webinar, and a countdown to the webinar and you are in business. Using “spammy” techniques intelligently can give your digital marketing the boost it needs.

Developing a Conversion Funnel to Increase Sales

If you want a solid marketing campaign that generates positive sales, you should consider using a conversion funnel. This is a tool that is often used by successful internet marketers. By learning how to build a conversion funnel, you’ll be able to create a structured campaign that actually converts.
Here is a simple guide for developing a conversion funnel for your next marketing campaign.
What is a Conversion Funnel?
First off, what is a conversion funnel? It’s a structured outline of your method for acquiring new customers and completing a sale. You’re funnelling your potential customers through a planned campaign, starting with the acquisition and ending with a sale or inquiry.
The reason for the funnel shape is that the number of prospective customers drops off the further along you go. You can then determine where the largest drop-off occurs and come up with solutions for fixing the leak in the funnel.
For example, you may get 1,000 visitors to reach your landing page. Half of those visitors may follow through with the next action, such as subscribing to your email list. Half of those subscribers may follow the link in your next email. The number trickles down until you reach your final conversion rate.
The standard conversion funnel can be broken down as follows:
  • Attraction
  • Interest
  • Desire
  • Action
You first need to attract potential customers. This is done through your standard marketing channels, such as PPC ads, press releases, social media marketing, and search engine optimization. From there, you need to capture their interest, such as with a landing page.
You then use desire in your calls to action to get them to move to the next step – completing an action. The intended action is usually a purchase or contacting you to learn more about your offer.
Attracting the Right Customers
The first part of the funnel is attracting potential customers. You need to attract the right customers to boost your conversion rates and make your funnel more effective. There are multiple solutions for this. You can perform market research to learn more about the interests of your prospective customers.
You could also focus on the copy used in your advertisements and marketing. Use long-tail keywords to narrow the focus of your advertisements. Targeting a niche category within your industry is always a good method for attracting the right customers.
Build Interest and Desire
Building interest and desire gets accomplished through landing pages and emails. Your landing pages should build interest in the solution that you’re providing. Your goal should be to gain subscribers. You can include a call to action on your landing page to complete a sale, but include an opt-in form for subscribing.
Some of your visitors may not be interested in making a purchase right away. But, you could still end up getting their email address. This is an essential part of the funnel. You’ll need to create an email marketing campaign for targeting visitors that left without making a purchase.
Send a Follow Up Email
You can attempt to plug the leak in your funnel by sending follow up emails. The opt-in form that you include on your landing page should be separate from your other subscriber lists. Create a follow-up email that you can send to these visitors.
Your follow-up email should build the desire to come back to your website and complete a purchase. You could include an additional offer, discount, or promotional code to entice the visitor back to your website.
Create an Effective Call to Action
The final part of increasing sales through a conversion funnel is to create a killer call to action. Your call to action needs to convert. If you need help creating an effective call to action, use split testing to fine-tune your final message.
Conversion funnels are incredibly effective at increasing the effectiveness of your marketing campaign. It makes it easier to keep your campaign structured and maximise your conversion rates.
You can easily look at each stage of your conversion funnel – advertisement, landing page, email, and sale, to determine which area needs to be optimised. Focus on the areas where your potential customers start to drop-off and then come up with a solution to plug the leak and improve your funnel.
