How to Increase Conversions with Discounts and Promotions

If you aren’t able to generate conversions from your landing pages, there are some simple ways to turn things around. After evaluating your pages, if you can’t find a solution, then consider offering discounts and special promotions.

Consumers Expect Deals and Special Offers

We’re living in a world where consumers expect to receive deals and special offers everywhere that they go. One study found that about 50 percent of consumers will not make a purchase online if they don’t get a discount.
Immediately cutting off half of your market base isn’t an effective way to run a marketing plan. Luckily, adding special offers isn’t a difficult process.
There are many types of deals and promotions that you could use. The majority of these steps requires very little work and are easy to implement. This includes:
  • Free shipping
  • Discount codes
  • Free gifts with purchase
  • Pop-up exit offers
  • Exclusive content
Using these simple promotions, you can quickly see an uptick in conversion rates. If you can drop your bounce rate by 2% and increase your conversion rates by 2%, you’ll increase sales by 10%. Those are numbers that any entrepreneur can enjoy.

Free Shipping

Free shipping is one of the most common deals available on websites. You should decide whether you want to offer free shipping on everything or free shipping on orders over a set value. For example, you could offer free shipping when a customer spends more than $50.
Another option is to offer free shipping on all items. When you offer free shipping on everything, you can factor a portion of the shipping costs into the price of your products.
The only problem with free shipping is that it doesn’t apply to digital products. So, if you’re involved in digital sales, you’ll need to explore the other options.

Discount Codes

Discount codes are also effective for boosting sales. You can pass these codes out through social media or other marketing campaigns. As with free shipping, you don’t need to spend anything to include this deal.
Though, you’ll need a payment gateway that accepts discount codes. If your current gateway doesn’t support coupons or discount codes, you should look for a different gateway.

Free Gifts with Purchase

Free gifts could include just about anything. You could include tangible items or digital goods. Free gifts are easy to promote. You let your visitors know that if they act now, they can ensure they receive their free gifts before this special promotion ends.

Exclusive Content

Exclusive content applies to any media that you can give your customers that are not readily available elsewhere. Examples include eBooks, video content, member-only web pages, downloadable media, and any other digital goods.
There are numerous plug-ins available for providing download codes to digital content. This keeps people from sharing the download link with others.

Pop-Up Exit Offers

The final method is to include a pop-up exit offer. These simple pop-ups are used to try and get visitors that are about to leave your site. The pop-up is triggered when they attempt to close the tab in their web browser. This gives you one last chance to get their sale by offering a special offer or discount.
You can incorporate as many different discounts and promotions as you’d like. Though, you should probably keep it simple. Choose one or two discounts per marketing campaign. You don’t want to have to focus on too many different metrics and variables at the same time.

How to Create a Lead Magnet to Grow Your Email List

If you’re resting all your marketing ambitions on the hope that first-time visitors will make a purchase, you’re going to have trouble making any money. Only about 1% of visitors are ready to make a purchase during their first visit. On average, you’ll need about 4 or 5 points of contact before getting a sale.

A lead magnet is designed to help you capture the email address of these visitors so that you can direct them back to your sales funnel. They’re designed for the 99% of prospects that leave your site without making a purchase.
So, if you want to gain these email addresses, you should take the time to create an effective lead magnet.
Research Your Competitor’s Lead Magnets
First, you’ll need to look at your competitor’s lead magnets. Look at the offers that they provide. You shouldn’t copy their offers. But, you can use your research to ensure that you’re offering something original and more appealing than what your competition is offering.
This research will give you a better sense of what your potential buyers want. Use this information as you choose your offer. Generally, these offers will fall into one of these categories:
  • PDF, eBook, or downloadable guide
  • Video tutorial
  • Webinars
  • Discounts or coupons
The medium that you choose for your offer will depend on your market. PDFs and other readable content are useful when you don’t have a tangible product.
So, if you offer digital goods or services, your customers will expect digital offers. Though, downloadable content can be applied to almost any industry.
When creating your offer, the medium is not nearly as important as the actual content. Whether you film a video tutorial or put together a downloadable guide, you need to choose a topic that your potential buyers are interested in.
Researching the Top Concerns of Your Potential Buyers
Researching the top concerns of your potential buyers will help you choose a topic for your lead magnet. People want solutions. They want valuable information. You’ll provide them with the answers or facts that they need.
There are several ways to learn more about the top concerns of your target demographic. You can search forums and communities. Look at the questions that people ask most frequently on these websites.
You can also look at social media comments. This includes comments on both your own social media accounts and the accounts of your competition. Social media is the preferred method of communication for most consumers.
A little bit of keyword research can also help you find a topic. See what keyword phrases are searched for most frequently. Focus on keyword searches related to questions or concerns.
After you’ve researched the top concerns of your potential buyers, you’ll have a topic to discuss. Make this topic the focus of your free content. Then, this content together in a PDF, video, or webinar.
Create a Killer Title and Sub-title
Once you have an offer, the rest is easy. You just need a great title and sub-title. Be specific and keep your title simple. Address the problem or concern that you promise to solve in your free content.
The sub-title follows up on this promise by telling visitors what they’ll find on this page. Make it obvious to your visitors what they’re about to read.
This same tip applies to the rest of your web page. Keep the content simple and direct. You need to stick to the point. The entire goal of the page is to get visitors to sign up to your email list by offering free content. Make sure that they understand exactly what they’re about to sign up for.
A lead magnet is an invaluable tool used for growing your email list. But, there are more steps that you can take. If you’d like more powerful marketing tips, as well as a way to generate conversion-ready internet marketing prospects every month, click here to learn about my done-for-you system.

6 Solutions for Improving Your Mobile Marketing Campaign

How’s your mobile marketing working out for you? If you don’t have a campaign for mobile devices that’s separate from your standard marketing campaign, you could be missing out on a large segment of consumers. About 52% of internet traffic comes from mobile devices.
While you can use your regular marketing strategies to target people on all devices, there are a few extra steps to take that can help increase your reach to the mobile market. The following solutions will help improve your mobile marketing campaign.

Ensure Mobile Compatibility on All Devices
Before you launch a mobile marketing campaign, you need to ensure that visitors will be able to navigate your website. Test the compatibility of your website on all major mobile devices.
Not only should ensure that your web pages display correctly on mobile devices, you need to ensure that forms, payment systems, and other interactive elements work properly.
You can use Google Chrome or Firefox to test compatibility. Though, this isn’t always 100% accurate. The best way to test compatibility is to use the real device.
Obviously, you won’t own all major mobile devices. But, you can test the devices that you have or ask friends and family to test your site on their phones or tablets.
You may find that there are elements that don’t work correctly on mobile devices. Remove these elements or hide them on mobile devices. You want to provide mobile visitors with a clean, easy to navigate website.
Use Paid Social Media Advertising
If you thought that people spend a lot of time on social media sites through their desktop or laptop, the numbers are greater on mobile devices. Most mobile users stick to their favorite sites and rarely venture to unknown sites.
To target these users, you’ll have to market to them on their favorite sites. This means using paid social media advertising. You can use paid Facebook ads and promoted tweets on Twitter. These ad campaigns should strictly be set for mobile devices.
Develop a Mobile Application
Creating a mobile application is an effective way to reach mobile users. Think of ideas for a mobile app that either enhances the use of your products or services or that can streamline your customer interactions.
If you can’t think of any ideas, then consider creating a mobile app version of the blog section of your website. Make sure that the app automatically updates when new content gets added.
Use QR Codes in Your Print Advertising
If you have flyers, postcards, pamphlets, or other physical, print advertising, add a QR code. These square images can be scanned by almost any mobile device that has a camera and internet access.
After scanning the code, the user is automatically directed to a URL. Essentially, these are links that can be scanned and they’re free to generate.
Create Rewards or Discounts for Mobile Customers
Including special promotional offers for mobile users can help drive sales. This could be connected to the use of your mobile app. Require users to download the app before they receive their coupon.
Keep Things Simple and Direct
People on mobile devices don’t have time to mess around. You want to keep your marketing and content simple and direct. Don’t hesitate to include a call to action or shorten your content.
Whenever you write sales copy for a mobile campaign, remember that less is more. Remind yourself to hurry up and get to the point.
