6 Ways to Improve Your Email’s Subject Lines

Massive email marketing campaigns are a great way to get more eyes on your newsletter or website since you can reach thousands of people at once. However, your campaign won’t be successful if nobody opens your message. According to Madison Logic, over 122 billion emails are sent an hour, so knowing how to stand out from the crowd is important.
Your email’s headline is arguably the most important part of the message since it’s the part readers will see first and make a split-second decision whether opening the message is worth their time. Headlines that aren’t interesting will quickly be marked as read or deleted. In fact, copywriter coach Chris Marlow claims that studies have proven that headlines are responsible for 50-75% of an ad’s success.
Knowing just how much of your campaign’s success rests on the headline alone, it’s important that you really take the time to examine how effective your headlines are. Here are a few great tips to craft better headlines:
Personalize your subject line
A study by MailChimp examined about 24 billion emails and found that subject lines with the recipient’s first and/or last name were opened more often than those without. The most effective emails had both the first and last name, though those which only used the last name were strangely more effective than emails that only used the first name.
The power of first name personalization varied based on industries. Personalized emails sent to those in the government were opened 92% more often than usual while there was 45% difference for the creative services/agency industry. There were positive effects in all sorts of industries such as software, art, retail, and entertainment, but proved to be ineffective in the legal industry with a -31% open rate.
Create a sense of urgency
A headline that compels the user to read right away will surely be opened. Such a headline tells the reader that there is some important information within the email that needs to be read right away and can’t be put off until later.
The aforementioned MailChimp study found that the following words results in a higher open rate:
    • Urgent: 79%
    • Breaking: 68%
    • Important: 55%
    • Alert: 31%
Note that Adestra similarly found that “alert” lead to a 61.8% increase in open rates.
You could also give a deadline with phrases like “today only” or “last chance” to make sure that they know they must act now.
Make them feel special
Much like how adding a first and last name to a subject line makes the email feel more personal, so too does adding phrases that make the email sound like it’s exclusively for the reader. Headlines such as “An exclusive offer just for you,” “For your eyes only,” or “A message for our dear customers only” makes the reader know that this message is just for them or their group of people.
Keep it short and simple
Your subject line should ideally be 6-10 words, under 50 characters, and provide a description of what the reader can expect in the message. People are used to receiving an overabundance of emails and won’t want to waste any time on something that doesn’t immediately meet their needs. Subject lines that are too vague or too detailed won’t be opened very often.
Short headlines are especially important when considering that 40% of emails are opened on mobile and that longer headlines will get cut off. You can shorten your headline by using contractions and not spelling out numbers. (i.e. “don’t” instead of “do not” and “45” instead of “forty-five”)
Capitalize each word
MailChimp found that capitalizing each word in the subject line lead to a 7% increase in open rate while only capitalizing at least one word lead to a -1% open rate. These numbers are small, but they shouldn’t be overlooked. If you have a very large mailing list, the small percentage points can translate to hundreds or thousands of consumers.
Use an A/B test
You will likely reach a situation where you have multiple headlines you would like to use, but can’t decide which one is best. You should A/B test them by sending them to segments of your mailing list. Collect some data and then send out the winning headline to the rest of your list.
Make sure to keep as many factors as consistent as possible. For example, if you sent Headline A at 2:00 AM and Headline B at 9:00 AM, you shouldn’t be surprised if there’s a stark difference in open rates.
Using the right headline hacks can exponentially improve your marketing success. You should use MailChimp, Constant Contact, or another email marketing service to send out your emails, track statistics, and watch your numbers grow.

Why Your Mailing List Is Your Most Powerful Online Marketing Tool

The number one way to really convert website visitors into actual customers is through email correspondence. I can’t tell you how many times this has personally worked on me. A company sends an alluring email, you open it, and then realize that hey, this is really cool and the next thing you know, you’re about to check out your cart.
This is the real power of email marketing, which many online business owners might underestimate as a powerful lead generating and conversion force. The idea of being an online business does not negate the need to connect with individuals, and emails provide a convenient and also effecitve way to accomplish that. This means that if nothing else, when visitors come to your site, this is the one piece of information you want to ask them to leave with you before they go.
A large following on twitter or Facebook and other social media platforms will never guarantee you the levels of conversion and profitable traffic that email will. In fact, if you get on to platforms like LinkedIn, which has millions of business contacts and prospects, you can get information  which will springboard you into making connections and grow your business to proportions you never thought possible.

The Benefits of Email Marketing

  1. Email marketing provides you with a direct and safe way to interact with customers, and present the offerings of your business to them. The awesome thing is that you get to control the frequency of your emails and also personalize them for your audience.
  2. Research has shown that return on investment rates produced as a result of email interactions, are the greatest you will ever receive than from any other marketing method you use. This means that your company really needs to go all out in terms of collecting email information from prospective clients, and on members in your target groups to really get in on this cash cow.
  3. In additon to desktop users, you can reach a wider number of prospects who view emails on their mobile devices. This further increases your scope to make connections, which means that your business will have to consider formatting these emails to be displayed attractively on smaller mobile screens, not just desktops. Don’t run the risk of having your valuable messages deleted because they don’t display well on a mobile screen, so cover all the bases, and don’t let this be a cause for loss of revenue.
  4. All you need is an interest catching subject line to encourage your reader’s further interest in exploring the message. You may also chose not to make your message too lengthy. Keeping it simple may be very appealing especially to busy people and also appear more personal.
  5. You can easily combine the your email marketing efforts with social media marketing, by using videos for example, in the body of your email, which can then easily be shared on social media platforms to greatly increase the scope of your reach.

How To Get Your Hands On Mailing Lists

You can acquire email subscriber lists through the database that you have created on your own website. Additonally, you can reach out to mailing list brokers who will provide you with targeted lists, based on your specifications, for a fee. Alternatively, you can get this information through public records, although it may not be as profitable for you as your own company list or a puchased targeted listing.

3 Hot Marketing Trends You Need to Try Now

Keep innovating with your marketing strategies.

Marketing is constantly evolving, and while things like email marketing and content marketing will continue to be viable strategies, there are some other, growing trends worth exploring right now.

You will never know if something is going to work for your business unless you test, optimize and adjust. If you are looking to make adjustments to your current marketing strategy, consider looking into these three red-hot strategies that are currently on the rise.

1. Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing is exploding, and there is no sign of it slowing down any time soon. My influencer agency receives inquiries from brands located all over the world on a daily basis, eager to learn how they can benefit from the hottest marketing trend.
Of more than 200 marketing professionals surveyed by Chute, 66 percent used social influencers as part of their marketing strategies in 2016. That number is going to continue to climb as more brands launch campaigns to determine whether or not influencer marketing is a right fit for them.
It’s only going to get bigger, and with mega-influencer costs going through the roof, you need to seriously consider launching a micro-influencer campaign. They often have hyper-engaged followers and with the increase of ad-blocking software use, you need to find creative ways to get your message heard and your brand seen.

2. Video blogs

A video blog (vlog), and more specifically a daily vlog, allows you to build a large following of loyal brand supporters. Consumers love video content, and YouTube’s 1.5 billion logged-in monthly users watch more than one hour per day on mobile devices. The audience potential is obvious there, especially on mobile devices.
Videos also make you appear more human, allowing consumers to associate a friendly face with a brand’s name. This helps build immediate trust, and the more you put your vlog and out yourself out there, the more trust you will create.
Vlogging allows you to pump out content that isn’t staged or reeking of an advertisement. It gives you the opportunity to let your potential customers get to know you, your team and everything about your business. Create an interesting daily vlog that attracts a large number of subscribers, and business exposure and growth will follow.

3. Podcasts

Podcasts are becoming increasingly popular, and they offer a great opportunity for you to connect with your target customer while they are commuting to work or exercising.
“From an entrepreneur’s standpoint, podcasts are appealing because they're a form of content that can be consumed while doing something else, allowing you to multi-task and learn. Listening to a podcast while you do morning cardio allows you to indulge in self-education,” says Jim Parrish, founder of Parrish Law Firm.
You don’t want to create a glorified sales pitch or a long-winded commercial, though. They are most effective when you tell a story and let the listener into your world. Consumers want to engage with content that is compelling, and deemed to be interesting. A great example is The GaryVee Audi Experience, which is a collection of Gary Vaynerchuk’s keynote speeches, interviews, #AskGaryVee and DAILYVEE show highlights, as well as current thoughts, all made available on every podcasting platform imaginable.
Vaynerchuk isn’t directly pitching the listener on his agency’s services, nor is he pushing his listeners to a call-to-action to buy his books. He just provides value across all of his podcasting channels, listeners automatically Google his name, his books and his companies. Ultimately, he's rewarded monetarily for that value without having to directly ask for it.

Write Attention Grabbing Headlines With These 5 Super Simple Tips

An attention grabbing headline can be useful for improving your email marketing, increasing conversion on your website, and for any other form of content marketing that includes its own header or title. This is the first indication that a reader has as to what to expect from your content.
You don’t need to be a professional writer in order to create great copy for websites, landing pages, blog posts, and emails. But, you should start with a killer headline. Here are some extremely easy to follow tips for writing effective headlines.
Write a Summary of Your Content
The first step is to summarize the main point of your content in a single sentence. Don’t worry about how it sounds. Keep it simple. Just write a sentence. You’ll edit it to improve the flair of the headline.
For example, this article is about writing headlines. So, the main point is “how to write headlines that will grab people’s attention”. But, this is not quite effective. It still needs some polish.
Use Numbers in Your Headlines
People like numbers. This applies to almost any headline. Whether you’re writing headlines for emails, blog posts, or any other marketing campaign – numbers are effective.
If you are listing steps, providing tips, or offering any other content that could be put into a list, then consider giving your headline a number. Take your original sentence and see if you can add a number to your headline.
Include Exciting Adjectives
Next, try to include an exciting adjective in your headline. These words help inspire action and grab attention. Here are a few examples for your consideration:
  • Essential
  • Excellent
  • Effective
  • Fantastic
  • Important
  • Mind blowing
  • Valuable
  • Ultimate
  • Simple
Keep Your Headline Short
You should also keep your headline short. If you’re writing a headline for a blog post or web page, your headline will also work as your title. Google recommends a maximum of 70 characters. Along with the character count, you should pay attention to the number of words.
In most studies, headlines with between 10 and 12 words tend to perform best. You could go as low as 8 and as high as 14. But, these may not be as effective.
Try to Include Your Focus Keyword
Even if you don’t pay close attention to keyword density, you should try to include a focus keyword. Use Google AdWords Keyword Planner Tool to find a relevant keyword that has decent search volume with low competition. Work into your headline if possible.
Once you’ve completed your headline, using these tips, read it out loud. Does it grab your attention? It should convey the subject of your content and encourage people to want to read the rest of your content.
These suggestions can be used for writing any type of headline. Improve the conversion rates of your landing pages, boost traffic to your blog posts, and increase click-through rates on your emails.
In addition to these suggestions, you may want to try writing 5 or 6 different headlines. Create a list of headlines and then consider which one sounds best.
You could even use A/B split testing to test the effectiveness of two different headlines. Create two separate versions of your content, with two different headlines. See which one works best.
You can start using these tips today. Go through the headers and titles of some of your older blog posts or landing pages. See if you can put a new spin on previous headlines.
Along with effective headlines, you could also benefit from additional online marketing tips, such as using a lead generation system. Click here to learn more about my done-for-you system.

How to: Reactivation Email Campaigns

Email marketing is a huge task for digital marketers. Emails are the way you communicate with people about company updates, sales, special offers, press releases, newsletters, and more.
It’s one thing to have a healthy subscriber list and open rate, but it is another to have people actually engage with your emails. Getting those subscribers who open your emails but don’t do anything once they are open can cause a lot of problems for digital marketers.
You want to get those sleepy subscribers to reengage with your emails and do more than just open them and a reactivation campaign is just how to do that.
What is a reactivation campaign
A reactivation campaign is when you create a strategy around those sleepy subscribers. You want them to get back to opening your emails and engaging with them. This can help improve sales, click-throughs, website traffic, and more.
A successful reactivation campaign involves a few steps. To help you build the best reactivation campaign ever, we have outlined those steps below.
  1. Isolate the subscribers who aren’t engaging.
The last thing you want to do is waste time and energy sending a reactivation campaign to people who are already engaging with your emails. Additionally, if an active emails engager gets a reactivation campaign, they could become annoyed and unsubscribe altogether.
You’ll want to isolate your sleepy subscribers depending on how frequently you send emails. If you send one almost every day, pull out people who haven’t engaged with an email in 90 days. If you send less frequently,  increase that time to 120 or 200 days.
Once you have that data, create a separate email list and start building your campaign.
  1. Test everything from copy to content
Reactivation campaigns are unique in that you’ll need to perform a few A/B tests to see what will drive people to re-engage. A few things to test: subject lines, tone of voice, photos, video, offers, links, buttons, and more.
Keep in mind that you will want to do some segmentation to have successful tests. Segment your sleepy subscribers by persona, shopping behavior, demographic, location, age, gender, and/or email service.
Email service is a particularly important one. Each email service filters emails differently, so you will want to account for those differences in your reactivation campaign.
  1. Reactivation campaigns are not a one time task
In order to be successful with reactivation campaigns, you need to be constantly executing them. Subscribers stop engaging in emails all the time. If you are always scrubbing your email lists for those who aren’t engaging, you will have more luck reactivating them.
Being proactive about your reactivation efforts also helps your email health and reputation. When customers stop engaging in emails, they can start to go into spam and if you keep sending emails to subscribers who are not engaging, your emails could be blacklisted.
Staying on top of email reactivation is vital for overall reactivation campaign and email marketing success.
  1. Make sure people have a way out of your emails
Hiding your unsubscribe button or making it more difficult than necessary for people who want to unsubscribe hurts your email marketing in the long run. Don’t send emails to people who don’t want them. It saves your email reputation and keeps your lists up-to-date.
When you give someone the easy option to opt out of emails, they are less likely to mark the email as spam. Companies that have too many emails marked as spam get blacklisted by email clients and have to spend lots of money and time getting off those blacklists.
Additionally, unsubscribe buttons give you the opportunity to spend less time on reactivation campaigns. People will let you know themselves that they want off your email lists, meaning that you won’t have to spend time and money trying to reactivate them.

Exploring The Most Cost Effective Online Marketing Channels

What are the best online marketing channels? There isn’t a straightforward answer to this question. Every business is different. But, there are certain channels that tend to be more cost-effective and provide higher conversion rates.
If you are looking for a way to stretch your online marketing budget, then explore the most cost effective online marketing channels.
Here’s a quick overview of the online marketing channels that’ll be covered:
  • Email marketing
  • Pay-per-click advertising
  • Social media advertising
  • Blogging
Email Marketing
For some reason, many entrepreneurs believe that email marketing is outdated or ineffective. This is simply not true. Email marketing remains the most cost-effective way to increase conversion rates and boost sales.
Compared to all other online marketing channels, email marketing offers the lowest cost per lead. While social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, have millions of users, everyone has an email address.
As long as you’re smart about your email marketing strategy, you will get positive results.
Make sure that your emails encourage your subscribers to take action. This could include visiting your website or purchasing a product or service. You should also create a sense of urgency in your emails.
Also, don’t ever purchase an email list. You should always build your own list using opt-in forms and other methods.
PPC Advertising
Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising is another marketing channel that is thought of as being past its prime. Again, this isn’t true. PPC is affordable and effective. You just need to optimize your PPC campaign.
Before you put together your PPC campaign, you need to perform thorough keyword research. The key to an effective PPC campaign is choosing the right keywords. Use the Google AdWords Keyword Planner to research keywords and find phrases with low competition and medium search volume.
Along with keyword research, you need to have a title and description that grabs attention. You have limited space available. Your title and description used in your PPC advertisement shouldn’t be vague. It should be clear and direct.
By having a clear message in your PPC ad, you’ll naturally notice higher conversion rates. Focus on a specific demographic and speak directly to the customer.
Social Media Advertising
While email marketing and PPC advertising have been around since the beginning of online marketing, social media marketing is relatively new by comparison. There are two methods of using social media as a part of your online marketing strategy – regular activity and advertising.
First, you should be active on social media. Create a schedule for sending out new posts or tweets. This helps you build your subscriber or follower base.
Along with regular activity, you should include social media advertising in your marketing strategy. This could include Facebook Ads, promoted Tweets on Twitter, and advertisements on LinkedIn.
As with PPC advertising, you’ll need to optimize these advertisements to increase conversion rates. Again, use Google AdWords Keyword Planner Tool to find the most effective keywords. Focus on a niche category.
Blogging
Here’s one more online marketing channel to include in your overall strategy – blogging. Blogging is extremely cost effective. You likely already have a website. You just need to start adding regular blog posts.
Blog posts can be shared on social media, linked to from advertisements, and are incredibly beneficial from an SEO standpoint. Blog about topics relevant to your products or services.
You should also create a schedule for your blog posts. With a regular schedule, visitors will know when to come back for more posts. This increases repeat traffic and allows you to develop a loyal group of followers while also establishing yourself as a voice of authority in your niche market.
As you start developing and refining your online marketing strategy, consider using the marketing channels described above. Along with these tips, don’t forget to check out my simple lead generation system. Click here to learn more about my done-for-you system.

How to Improve Your Email Marketing

Email marketing has become more and more challenging over the last few years. With people signing up for multiple email accounts, Gmail changing where your messages go, and more people deleting your emails than opening them, running a successful email marketing campaign requires a lot of work.
There are a few ways that you can take your email marketing to the next level. This can helps you send better emails to the right people at the right time. Once you strategize and streamline your email marketing, you will see a measured improvement in how your email marketing performs.
Here are a few ways that you can improve your email marketing this year.
Send emails only to the people who want them
A lot of the reason that your email marketing may be looking like it is failing is because you are probably sending your emails to people who don’t want them. People who get your emails, but don’t want them usually end up deleting them without opening them or marking them as spam. These are not the people you want on your email lists.
Whenever you continue to send emails to people who don’t want them, your domain reputation is hurt. This can leave you scrambling to clean up your domain reputation for months.
Avoid this by scrubbing your email lists once a month. Take out all of the people who haven’t opened an email from you or haven’t engaged with one of your emails and send them one reactivation campaign. Getting them out of the general email list helps keep your domain reputation healthy and your email marketing profitable.
If the subscribers still don’t open or engage with your emails after the reactivation campaign, take them off the list. This leaves a lot less clutter for you to clean up later.
Give each email a goal
If you are not sending each and every email with a goal, stop sending them. You have to have a clear goal laid out for each email before you send them. You want to cue your email recipients with the action they should take with each email.
Make sure that there are multiple ways for your email recipients to achieve the goal of your email. Add buttons with links, photos, video, and good subject lines. You want the point of the email to be clear right when they open the email.
Sending an email just to send an email isn’t going to help you or your customer. It wastes everyone’s time and makes your customers less likely to engage when you really want them to. Give each email a goal and you won’t have this problem.
Personalise the emails
Email personalisation really works. When you stick with the basics like the subscriber’s name or company, they are more likely to engage with the email.
Email personalisation is relatively simple now with email marketing platforms. Above all, do not send a “dear customer” or “dear client” email. It won’t get read and you will have wasted your time.
Test sending your emails on different days
There is a ton of data out there that says that sending your email on Tuesdays or Thursdays are the best days. While that may have been true at one point, it’s not the case anymore.
In order to send emails that people will engage with, you have to test sending your emails on different days. Find out what works for you and your company. What matters isn’t when the most people are sending emails; what matters is when most people are engaging with your emails.
Test sending on different days and at different times. This will help you develop the most optimal plan and get your email engagement rates up.
If you want to learn more about how to send emails effectively, look into my done-for-you system now.

How Gmail Tabs Impact Email Marketing

2013 brought about some changes for Gmail. They introduced Gmail Tabs. These tabs were designed to make Gmail users inboxes less hectic and easier to manage.
Essentially, tabs divided all of your Gmail messages into five sections: Primary, Social, Updates, Promotions, and Forums. Primary was for any direct person to person communication. Social was for any and all social media updates that you have pushed to your inbox. Updates include shipping confirmations, receipts, and the like. Promotions is for any sales or promotions emails and Forums was for things like Reddit and comment boards.
While many email marketers were worried about what would happen with the new tabs, the segmentation has actually helped marketers. Here’s how it’s helped.
Google made the change for your benefit
Google did not create the promotions tab to punish you and make sure that your email subscribers don’t get your emails. They made that change so your emails would be delivered to your customers at the best time and within the best context.
It can sometimes be easy to forget that Google uses email marketing too. They are not going to design something that is going to punish email marketers.
Emails delivered at the right time
Timing is very important when it comes to email marketing. When Google designed the promotions tab for Gmail, they kept that in mind. People do not want to shop when they are sorting through their initial emails of the day.
By moving promotional emails out of the inbox and into their own area, Google ensured that your promotional email would be read when your customer would be receptive to the message in the email. The promotions tab allows marketing emails to be read and not ignored, it’s a good thing that they have their own tab.
Emails delivered in the right context
People open sales and marketing emails when they want to shop. The goal of email marketing is to drive sales. Now, with the Gmail promotions’ tab, people know where to look for deals and where to make a purchase.
Gmail’s promotions tab actually helps drives sales by making sure that your email is read when people want to shop. Segmenting marketing emails into their own tab helps put them in a place where people want them and where they will be more open to the call to action of the email.
Good content equals more sales
It is being said over and over and over but it is worth saying again. They key to driving email sales isn’t where the email goes in the inbox or what time of day it is received. The key is good content.
Create top of the line copy. Use subject lines that stand out. Find out the calls to action that your customers respond the best to. Take great pictures and shoot standout video. Keep your email marketing message straightforward and to the point.
Great content pays and if you want to have a successful email marketing campaign, you have to focus on content. Listen to your customers. Find out what they like and what they respond to.
When you take the time to learn more about the people you are emailing and selling to, you will see the sales start to come in. Keep your content fresh and on message and people will respond to it.
At the end of the day, you can spend time fretting over changes to email clients and how it may or may not impact your business’s email marketing goals or you can buckle and make good content that can stand up to any email client changes.

Simple Solutions for Boosting Your Email Subscriber List

Email marketing is the most cost-effective way to promote your business. You can increase sales leads and boost customer retention. Though, this all rests on the size of your subscriber list. You’ll need to build your own subscriber list to maximise the benefits you receive from email marketing.
Generating your own subscriber list isn’t always easy when you’re first starting out. You may find it difficult to get subscribers and keep them. Here are some simple solutions for boosting your email subscriber list in the shortest amount of time.
Include Opt-In Forms On Every Page
Every page of your website should contain an opt-in form of your email list. Your visitors shouldn’t have any problem figuring out how to subscribe. If using a website layout with a sidebar, place the form on your sidebar. Otherwise, you could include it near your footer.
Include a Pop-Up Opt-In Form
In addition to placing an opt-in form on your web pages, you should consider using a pop-up display to ask visitors to subscribe. You find plugins or simple scripts for adding pop-ups. They are quick and easy to setup.
While some may find pop-ups annoying, they really do work. Internet users are familiar with pop-ups. They appear on almost every website. But, the truth is that pop-ups can dramatically increase your subscriber rate.
Keep Your Opt-In Form Simple
The registration form that you use needs to be simple. The more fields that you include on the form, the less likely a visitor is to fill it out. Only ask for their first name and email address. This keeps it simple and quick. If you’d like, you could just ask for their email address – making it even quicker to fill out the form.
Create Supplemental Content
Another solution for boosting your email list is to create supplemental content. Take your most popular blog posts and create more in-depth articles. Expand upon the ideas presented in each blog post. Create a PDF of your in-depth article. You can find many free tools for converting standard word processor files into PDF files.
Create a call to action at the bottom of the relevant blog post for readers to subscribe to your email list to receive additional information. Once they sign up to your email list, they’ll receive your free in-depth PDF.
Include Social Proof of Your Brand Presence
Consumers are more likely to make a purchase if a business has a lot of positive attention. Include social proof that your business is gaining popularity. You don’t need to wait until you have thousands of subscribers. If you’ve gathered Facebook and Twitter followers, total your entire follower base.
Total the number of users that have subscribed to your email list with your total social media followers. Display this total on your website under your opt-in form.
Make Sure Your Email Marketing Campaign is Effective
While these steps will help you build your subscriber list, you’ll also need to ensure you’re using an effective email marketing campaign. Once you gain subscribers, you need to keep them. Create a consistent schedule of sending out your newsletter or promotions. Offer incentives and deals to your subscribers.
By having an effective email marketing campaign, you can expect to hold on to your subscriber base, while gaining new subscribers. Also, don’t forget to take advantage of A/B split testing to increase open rates and click-through rates.
Hopefully, you can use these tips to begin building your subscriber list. These are easy suggestions to implement. Building an email list is an integral part of promoting a business. Email marketing also provides the best ROI compared to other marketing channels.

4 Ways to Let Your Autoresponder Make Money for You on Auto Pilot

Once you have set up a system to get people to give you their email address — whether it’s on a squeeze page or on your blog page or however you do it — you are going to start to collect a LOT of email addresses. You will get so many, in fact, that it is going to be nearly impossible for you to manage them manually.
You don’t want to have to spend hours every day replying to email yourself, so what you need is an automated program to do it for you. At that point, what you need is an autoresponder.
Autoresponder Defined
An autoresponder is a program that automatically handles much of the administrative duties of maintaining your email marketing campaign.
Autoresponders will send out your email blasts to the people on your list, capture email addresses from prospects responding to your squeeze pages, distribute your free giveaways, and collect valuable data you can use to measure the success of your marketing plan.
Autoresponders can be programmed to send out a series of emails to the people on your list or to send emails only to pre-determined subsets of people, all based on a frequency and schedule that you control. You also can set up your autoresponder so that it flags addresses after a certain number of failed delivery attempts. This is helpful in cleaning up your list and keeping it up to date.
Automating Your Autoresponder
Most autoresponders also include the option to automatically insert your customer’s name in the body of the email. This makes it seem like you are personally sending the email to our individual subscribers.
Depending on the sophistication of your autoresponder, you can obtain a lot of data about the effectiveness of your email marketing program. Every program will tell you how many emails were successful sent, but more sophisticated autoresponders also can give you analytics on such things as:
  • How many of your customers actually opened your email
  • How many acted on your CTA and clicked through to your landing page

  • Other relevant information that is going to be helpful to you in fine-tuning your email marketing campaign.
Patterns will quickly emerge that tell you what types of emails your customers liked, and which ones turn them off.
Making the Most of Your Autoresponder
Generally, what your autoresponder does is most of the administrative work for your business. It’s like having an administrative assistant, only one that doesn’t need a salary or days off.
  • Use your autoresponder to send out emails according to a specific schedule that you determine in advance.
  • Handle the distribution of an email series according to pre-defined parameters
  • Respond to emails from customers
  • Send out digital products
  • Automatically follow up with customers to check for satisfaction and ensure continued good faith business with them
  • And much, much more
For the online marketer, autoresponders aren’t a luxury. They are a necessity. There is simply too much to do for you to handle it all. Rather than paying somebody else, such as a freelancer, to handle it for you, hand it off to your autoresponder.
